Taco Bell Doritos coming soon after Doritos Locos Tacos success

Taco Bell Doritos will soon be hitting store shelves, according to a report posted today at MSN. Apparently Frito-Lay wants to cash in on the now popular Doritos Locos Tacos that Taco Bell launched last year.

The new Taco Bell Doritos will apparently launch this spring, and Frito-Lay says "it will be the first time since the 1990s that it has offered Doritos branded with the logo of a national restaurant chain."

The MSN report says "Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos has been one of the biggest new menu items in recent times, with Taco Bell selling more than 300 million of the tacos with flavored shells since their introduction in March."

Apparently the Doritos Locos Tacos have been in such high demand, Taco Bell had postponed the planned launch of a Cool Ranch flavor for sometime this year. The fast-food chain wanted to make sure "there was enough capacity to make the shells." Sources say Taco Bell will also have a "Flamas" flavor, which is a variety of Doritos only available in certain areas of the country.

Speaking of limited-time Doritos, is anyone else missing the Guacamole Doritos? Now that would make a good Taco Bell taco!
