A tasteless public relations company announced that Amy Adams carried a Valentino handbag. The agency forgot to mention that the actress was attending Philip Seymour Hoffman's wake, according to a shocking Feb. 7 report by the New York Daily News.

A press release from Upasna Khosla stated that Adams touted a $2,500 bag in New York. The press release also said:

“We are pleased to announce Amy Adams carrying the Valentino Garavani Rockstud Duble bag from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection on Feb. 6 in New York."

The release included photos of the "American Hustle" actress dressed in black with a red bag. She also had a solemn expression in the photos. The black clothing and solemn attitude could've been an indication as to where she was headed.

The PR agency released an apology Friday afternoon after the mishap.

The company released another statement saying, "We sincerely regret releasing a photo to the media this morning of Amy Adams with a Valentino bag. We were not aware the photography was taken while she was attending the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman. It was an innocent mistake, and we apologize to Ms. Adams who was not aware, or a part of, our PR efforts."

The wake took place at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on the Upper East Side on Thursday night.
