The Tarrant Area Community of Churches (TACC), an inter-church nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting congregations and the community to affect and address unmet needs in Tarrant County, invites the community to participate in the Fourth Annual Tarrant Area Community of Churches MLK Day of Service on January 20, 2014.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 20, 2014, Tarrant Area Community of Churches is bringing together churches from around Tarrant County to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by volunteering their services to organizations that serve those in need during its 2014 MLK Day of Service.

“This is the 4th year we have pulled together the TACC MLK Day of Service event to benefit those in need in the Tarrant County area. We are thrilled to see this event take root and grow each year as more and more people come together to make it a day on, not a day off!” -Melinda Veatch, executive director of Tarrant Area Community of Churches

In 2013, 700 hands worked together to serve 30 community agencies during the 3rd Annual TACC MLK Day of Service by weeding community gardens, stocking food pantry shelves, painting apartments to create safe spaces for victims of domestic violence, writing letters to soldiers overseas and more. This year’s goal is greater: 800 hands working together to serve 40 community agencies that reach out to the elderly, the homeless, at-risk youth, children in need, prisoners re- entering society after serving their sentences, families living below the poverty line, people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction and more.
