Tabloid defends Kate Middleton against writer who calls her a 'plastic princess' (Video)

A British novelist is being slammed for comments she made about Kate Middleton. According to a Feb. 19 Associated Press report, The Daily Mail publicly called out writer Hilary Mantel for her “venomous attack” of the Duchess.

Mantel described Kate as “a jointed doll on which certain rags were hung” and referred to her as a mannequin in a shop’s window in a speech earlier this month. Hilary said Middleton appears to have been specifically designed by craftsmen to have a perfect smile and her limbs varnished in gloss.

The speech was about the complicated relationship between the public and royalty over the centuries. Those who defend Mantel say the speech was meant to show how quickly the public can go from adoring a royal to persecution.

However, the Daily Mail saw it as nothing more than an attack on the Duchess of Cambridge. The public has been torn by being offended by Mantel’s speech and complimenting her on posing thoughtful questions.
