Friday night Jan. 20, 2012 one of the best blues guitarist in Louisiana visits the State Theatre in Falls Church with special guest The Cris Jacobs Band. Tab has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Male Artist, and Best Contemporary Blues Album for the 33rd Blues Music Awards. He is also involved with the all star Voices of the Wetlands group which is trying to save the wetlands of the Gulf Coast.
I’ve seen Tab Benoit perform at the Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans, the Western Maryland Blues Festival, and at the State Theatre and I can honestly say Tab never disappoints. It is a real treat to see someone of Tab’s talent in club setting. The Raging Cajun will have his Louisiana flavored blues pouring off his telecaster.
Cris Jacobs was in the regional band The Bridge based out of Baltimore. Last year The Bridge disbanded and now Cris is making a go at it as a solo artist. The Bridge was known more as a jam band with strong blues elements. Along with tastes of bluegrass, funk, and folk thrown together in a musical stew created the music of his former band. His new band has many of the same ingredients just a bit more Cris.
