The final game of the series between the Tampa Yankees and the Lakeland Flying Tigers took place on Sunday afternoon and despite rain delays throughout the contest, the Yanks were able to take the 3-2 victory and get the series win. Rafael De Paula (ERA 5.67) took the start for the T-Yanks.
The Flying Tigers struck first in the 3rd inning as they were able to get a homerun off of De Paula.
The Tampa Yankees tied the game at 1 with a rub by Ali Castillo after a single by Taylor Dugas.
Tampa newcomer Zach Woods (ERA 3.86) then worked the next 2 1/3 innings allowing just 1 hit and 1 run for Lakeland to take a 2-1 lead.
Charley Short (ERA 2.20) then took over for Woods as he got the T-Yanks out of the 7th inning with a double header by the Tigers.
As Lakeland continued to lead, Taylor Garrison (ERA 2.17) took over pitching duties for Tampa.
Robert Refsnyder hit a single on a fly ball to center to start the bottom of the 9th inning. Peter O’Brien then hit a single of his own to put the tying and winning runs on base. Cody Grice then joined and hit his own single sending Refsnyder home and O’Brien advancing to 3rd on a throwing error by the Tigers. But, it was a RBI single by Dan Fiorito that put the T-Yanks on top with O’Brien’s run.
Garrison earns the victory (5-3) as the Tampa Yankees advance to (52-69).
