Spring Training 2014 is slowly winding down and that means that it will soon be time for Opening Day!
The Tampa Yankees will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary this season and will be doing many different promotions to honor the twenty years of the team's existence. The Tampa Yankees first game of the 2014 season will be on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Joker Merchant Stadium as they take on the Lakeland Flying Tigers at 6:30pm. The following day, Friday, April 4, 2014, the Tampa Yankees will hot Opening Day at George M. Steinbrenner Field as they take on the Tigers in the second game of the four game series at 7:00pm. On Friday night, the first 250 fans will receive a Tampa Yankees' 20th Anniversary T-shirt. Friday night is also "Social Media Friday" and all Tampa Yankees' fans who are friends and/or followers will receive admission for just $2 when they reveal the "keyword" at the Tampa Yankee box office. This keyword will be found on the Tampa Yankees social media page on game day. There will also be other promotions taking place including drink specials and $1 sodas.
As the Tampa Yankees' roster continues to become finalize in the next few weeks there are a few things that is for sure. One of the New York Yankees top Minor League prospects LHP Manny Banuelos will be starting the season with the Tampa Yankees as he continues to rehabilitate from Tommy John Surgery. RHP Jose Campos will also be joining the Tampa Yankees at the start season. Campos is considered to be the New York Yankees 12th Best Prospect in the organization and has spent the last two season the Charleston RiverDogs. In 2013 Campos went 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 26 games. Campos was obtained by the New York Yankees in 2012 in the trade with the Seattle Mariners in exchange for former Yankees Jesus Montero and Hector Neosi.
