T-Yanks drop Game 2 3-0; lose doubleheader

After the Clearwater Threshers out swung the T-Yanks in the first game of the doubleheader, thirty minutes later it was time for RHP Jaron Long (ERA 5.40) to take the mound and help Tampa rebound.

The Threshers got off to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd. The Yanks continued to try and gain some offense, but continued to struggle as they went 0 for 3 with runners in scoring positions in the first five innings.

Long pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs; striking out 3 batters. RHP Kyle Haynes then took over pitching duties on the mound for the Yanks allowing 2 hits and 1 run in the 6th inning. RHP Nick Rumbelow (ERA 2.57) took over the 7th with 2 hits allowed. The Tampa Yankees were unable to get a run home and lost the double header to the Clearwater Threshers. Long is charged with the loss (0-2) as the T-Yanks drop 3-0.

This weekend is the Florida State League All-Star Weekend hosted by the Bradenton Marauders at McKechnie Field.

The Tampa Yankees will travel to Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Monday evening for a three game series with the Daytona Cubs.
