The Tampa Yankees hosted a double header verse the Clearwater Threshers on Thursday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field, consisting of two seven inning match-ups.

In Game 1, RHP Rafael De Paula (ERA 4.97) took the start for the T-Yanks. The Threshers took an early 1-0 lead but the Yanks were able to strike back in the bottom of the second. A ground-rule double by Yeicok Calderon put Dante Bichette on 3rd and runners in scoring position. A two run single by Trent Garrison then gave Tampa a 2-1 lead.

De Paula struggled in the top of the 3rd before being relieved by Brett Gerritse (ERA 4.53) allowing 6 runs by the Threshers. Down by four runs, Tampa had a lot of ground to make up.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Cito Culver hit his 2nd homer of the season on a fly ball to center and was followed by Greg Bird's ninth double of the season. Bird later scored off a single by Matt Snyder. Gerritse pitched 3 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run.

But, the T-Yanks just didn't have enough offense in the seven innings of play to catch the Threshers. De Paula is charged with the loss (2-4).

The second game of the night is currently in progress, visit back later tonight to see how the T-Yanks fared.
