T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2 now run Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2 phones are getting the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2 software update. The update brings new features to the devices. In particular, it adds the “Auto Brightness” option to the G2. Owners of either device will notice overall user experience improvements once the update is installed.

Beginning Wednesday (March 5) Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners will receive over-the-air update (OTA) update notifications to manually check for and install KitKat 4.4.2. The carrier announced Monday that it received the update and will begin pushing the new software to G2 devices on Thursday.

Since T-Mobile is not pushing the software update directly to the Galaxy Note 3, the carrier advises device owners to do the following: From the home screen tap “Settings”, tap “More”, tap “About device”, tap “Software update” and tap “Ok” to check for and install the update file.

G2 phones require at least 50 percent battery life, a data connection and 147 MB of free memory for a successful installation. For Galaxy Note 3 phones, the software update requires at least 50 percent battery, a data or Wi-Fi connection and 510 MB of available memory.

The Android KitKat 4.4.2 update will bring the G2 to software version DB80120a and the Note 3 to version N900TUVUCNB4.
