T'Mar and Surok confirmed in new Star Trek video game

It was revealed today that T'Mar and Surok will be characters in the upcoming new Star Trek video game.

Near the beginning of the game, players are sent to a space station on a rescue mission. It is there that Kirk and Spock find the Vulcan scientist named T'Mar.

"T’Mar is the captain of the space station and was a childhood friend of Spock," said Paramount Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Brian Miller in an official press release. "Her blend of incredible intelligence and unexpected beauty prove intriguing to Kirk."

Later in the game, players will travel to New Vulcan (which is the new home world of the Vulcans since the original planet Vulcan was destroyed by Nero in the 2009 movie), and meet with Surok.

"When we crafted this story we wanted to make sure the player realizes that the usually logical, Spock can have very emotional connections to the ones he cares about," adds Miller. "Surok was one of Spock’s childhood mentors and is also T’Mar’s father. Together, they are helping to lead the colonization of New Vulcan."

Since the story from the upcoming game is considered canon in the rebooted Star Trek universe, it will be interesting to see how big of a role T'Mar and Surok actually play in the game and if either of these characters will appear in the upcoming movie Into Darkness which hits theaters this May.

Star Trek The Video Game is slated for release in North America on April 23rd. It will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
