Despite the positive press he received for Wednesday’s good deed of talking a down a would be jumper from an Atlanta building, T.I. is headed back to federal prison in two weeks. U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr., sentenced the rapper/actor to 11 months in prison.
T.I.’s legal team hoped to have the Takers star enter drug rehabilitation program or home confinement. According to ajc.com, the judge called his 2008 sentenced “an experiment,” to which he harshly concluded, “You certainly dumped smut on the whole experiment.”
T.I. served a full sentence of a year and a day for illegal firearms possession. He was caught attempting to purchase semi-automatic weapons with silencers by an undercover officer outside a Midtown Atlanta Walgreen’s before the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2007. Upon his release from prison in March of this year, T.I. appeared to be gaining momentum in rebuilding his career and life. He released several new singles including, “I’m Back” from what is now the ironically titled, King Uncaged. His September Los Angeles drug arrest after his summer wedding to longtime girlfriend, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, shocked fans and members of the entertainment community alike.
No word yet on where he will serve his sentence, nor when his wife will have her day in court.
