On Thursday, October 24, Spokane-area author Frank Zafiro reminded his readers on his Facebook page that there are still spots available for the one-day intensive writing seminar he will be conducting with local mystery author T. Dawn Richard on Saturday, October 26 at The Service Station in north Spokane.
According to Zafiro, "[There is] still time to sign up (or show up!) for this seminar with Dawn Richard and me! This Saturday from 9-5 at the Service Station in Spokane!"
Richard is the author of the May List Mystery series, available now with new cover artwork from Spokane publisher Gray Dog Press. Zafiro is a prolific author who mostly writes crime fiction. He is best known for his popular River City novels, also available in print editions from Gray Dog Press.
According to Zafiro, the workshop costs $99 per writer. The registration fee gives aspiring (or published) writers in the greater Spokane area the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of subjects during the eight hour session.
Zafiro offered more details about the event on his official website.
According to Zafiro, "... Dawn and I will be exploring (at a rapid pace) such things as: plot structure, character, voice, dialogue, point of view, pacing, setting, revising and editing, publishing, writing philosophy, the writing fellowship... and more!
"Dawn and I have taught a few times before and have a good synergy. Our careers and publishing experiences overlap in some areas but there are also some very different experiences that we will be able to share with the assembled writers to help them make their own choices…and avoid costly mistakes.
"If you want to give this one day intensive a try, email Dawn to sign up: email@example.com."
The Service Station is located on Spokane's north side at 9315 North Nevada. It should be a good location for the seminar. In addition to being a full-service coffee shop and cafe, The Service Station features a large multi-purpose room that is used for concerts and other local events. Aspiring writers will be able to feed their bodies as well as their minds and souls during the workshop.
According to their website, "The Service Station is North Spokane's premiere event center. It features a European style cafe that serves premium Ethiopian coffee, fine baked goods, gourmet soups and salads, and delicious desserts. Looking for that special place to hold a great public or private event? Our facility can provide the perfect space for an extraordinary experience."
