In the world of hot rodding, the T bucket is legendary. Based on the 1915-1927 Ford Model T and essentially a body (hence “bucket”) on a frame and wheels, the "T" creates hysteria like no other rod.
Offering a trunk out back or even a small truck-style bed, the T bucket is the classic that never goes out of style. As long as there are wrenchers, the T will offer a blank canvas for the creative juices to flow.
Go ahead, mix and match tire and wheel combos. Chrome the frame and suspension pieces. Delete the windshield. Do what you like and call it good.
Being a no-frills ride means T buckets are lightweight, and the power-to-weight ratio makes these rides scary fast, even with smaller displacement motors. Usually a highly-tuned V8 rests in the frame rails. If you’re lucky (some might say crazy) maybe a Big Block Chevy or Hemi provides the power. Tunnel rams with multiple carbs and superchargers are a bit excessive (especially without a roll bar), but outlandish horsepower levels is all part of the image.
Here’s a tribute to all those wacky T buckets that continue to drive and inspire us all.
