"So You Think You Can Dance" 2013 came to a dramatic crescendo Sept. 3 on FOX as the top four finalists performed their last routines for America's votes. One of the night's most dramatic numbers belonged to Amy Yakima and all-star Robert Roldan, who earned a standing ovation for their emotional contemporary piece.
During their rehearsal segment, choreographer Stacey Tookey explained that their dance would be a tale of courage and bad timing. Robert was given the role of a man in love with Amy, his long-time friend. Despite Robert's feelings, however, Amy wouldn't share his feelings until after he'd already walked away.
When they hit the "SYTYCD" stage to perform live, Amy and Robert executed their "Say Something" routine masterfully. The choreography effectively showcased Amy's stunning extensions as well as Robert's impressive strength, and the offering earned a standing ovation from all four panelists.
Guest judge Paula Abdul called it her favorite routine of the night, and likened their pairing to "a symphony." Nigel Lythgoe called them "intoxicating" and said that in his mind, the dance pushed Amy ahead of fellow finalist Jasmine Harper. Mary Murphy praised Amy for fully devoting herself to her performances, and guest judge Gabby Douglas called the dance one of her favorites of the evening.
To see if Amy Yakima is voted the female winner of "So You Think You Can Dance" 2013, watch the season 10 grand finale Sept. 10 on FOX.
