Spring generally means fewer travelers and more airfare sales, and that is exactly the scenario right now. In addition to a post-Easter travel sale from Sun Country Airlines that expires at midnight on Valentine's Day, there is now another great promotion from discount carrier AirTran Airways. The Southwest Airlines subsidiary has announced a systemwide sale for travel from February 18 - June 8, 2013. There is a 10-day advance purchase requirement with travel offered daily except Sundays.
Sample one-way airfares with no requirement to purchase a round-trip ticket include:
- Raleigh/Durham, $94
- Buffalo or Pittsburgh, $101
- Atlanta, $148
- Fort Myers, $150
- Orlando $159
Prices quoted into all government taxes and fees. AirTran's service originates at Terminal 2/Humphrey at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, operating on Boeing 717 and 737 aircraft.
Reservations must be completed and tickets purchased by February 18, 2013. There are domestic black-out dates on March 15, 22, 28-30, April 5, May 10, 17 23-24 and 27-28. Discounted seats are limited and may not be available on every flight. Some flights may be operated by Southwest Airlines.
