Syria warns Israel over attack (Video)

Syria has blasted Israel over a recent attack and has warned of a surprise in retaliation for
this assault. Dominic Evans and Khaled Yacoub Oweis have reported for Yahoo News, Syria protests over Israel attack, warns of "surprise." Syria has protested to the United Nations over an Israeli air strike on its territory and has warned of a possible "surprise" response.

The Syrian foreign ministry has summoned the head of the U.N. force in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in order to deliver the protest shortly after Israel hit what Syria has said was a military research center and diplomats said was a weapons convoy heading for Lebanon. Syrian television quoted the Syrian foreign ministry as saying, "Syria holds Israel and those who protect it in the Security Council fully responsible for the results of this aggression and affirms its right to defend itself, its land and sovereignty."

Syria’s allies have condemned an Israeli airstrike on a Syrian target, and Iran has issued a veiled threat to respond. Iran’s deputy foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has been quoted by Iranian news agencies as warning Israel of “grave consequences” after the airstrike. And Russia, which is Syria’s most powerful ally, has said in a statement that if the strike is confirmed, “we have a case of unprovoked attacks on targets in the territory of a sovereign state, which grossly violates the U.N. charter and is unacceptable.’’
