Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jafari stated: "The Syrian leadership spared no effort in responding to legitimate reform demands and issued a reform program based on political plurality," added al-Jafari, stressing Syria's commitment to the comprehensive reform process despite all attempts to thwart it through the ferocious campaign against Syria. Adding: "Syria has the right to protect its citizens, combat terrorism and armed violence and put an end for them."
Al-Jafari, in his speech at the UN General Assembly today, said that the war launched by some international and regional powers against Syria aims at undermining Syria, and never for carrying out reforms in Syria.
Al-Jafari said that Syria will stand by Qatar, Saudi Arabia or any Arab country in case of an attack against them, in reply to the Qatari diplomat who chairs the UN General Assembly and who illegally called for the session to be convened.
Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN said that the terrorists and those who support them, a possible reference to the United States, Britain and France seek to destroy the structure of Syria in order to spread the so-called creative chaos.
Al-Jafari addressed those involved in shedding the Syrian blood to stop conspiring against Syria and help Syria combat terrorism ."How can the UN combat terrorism while some of the UN member states fund and send terrorists to Syria," said al-Jafari, adding the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council are part of the problem and not of the solution.
Al-Jafari added that Syria sacrificed thousands of innocent victims for the sake of restoring stability and security to its citizens.
The United States denies that Syria is fighting terrorists and claimed the rash suicide attacks, bombings and armed gunmen assassinating policemen in the street and killing innocent people are “peaceful protesters” being slaughtered by the Syrian military?
Syria is crawling with Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaida who in many ways have hijacked the protest movement.
In a message aimed at the United States Al-Jafari said this:
"I say to all those involved in shedding the blood of the Syrian People: stop shedding the blood of the Syrian People, stop conspiring against Syria, help this People and the Syrian Government to combat terrorism and to meet the just demands of the Syrians for reforms,'' added al-Jafari reminding all present in the hall of the 2006 UN comprehensive Strategy for combating terrorism.
''How can the UN combat the terrorism of al-Qaida, while some UN members finance, patron al-Qaida and send fighters from al-Qaida to carry out terrorist operations in Syria?'' wondered al-Jafari, lashing out at the UN General Assembly Chairman non-condemnation of the terrorist operations against the Syrians and at yesterday's Arab League decision to support the Syrian opposition of which some carry weapons and terrorist attacks against the Syrians…” he said.
Al-Jafari pointed out, that some terrorist groups in the city of Homs, booby-trapped buildings and exploded them when security preservation personnel entered these buildings, not to mentions the tens of arbitrary killings, rape, kidnapping and mutilations of the Syrians by members of the terrorist armed groups.
In the meantime al-Qaida has proclaimed its complete solidarity with anti-government protesters in Syria in a video message urging the Muslim world to support efforts to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.The vicious killer Ayman al-Zawahiri, global head of al-Qaeda since the death of Osama bin Laden last May, issued the call to arms in an eight-minute video entitled Onwards, Lions of Syria posted on an Islamist website.
Egyptian-born Zawahiri urged Muslim states, including Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan, to come to the aid of Syrian protesters.
The Iraqi branch of al-Qaeda, seeking to exploit the bloody turmoil in Syria to reassert its potency, carried out two recent bombings in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and was likely behind Friday's suicide blasts that killed at least 28 people in the largest city, Aleppo…according to various intelligence sources.
A fact initially dismissed by US officials who also want to hijack the situation as part of its effort at illegal regime change in Syria.
It’s all part of the “Plan” according to former US Army General Wesley Clark (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXS3vW47mOE ).
Syria is one of seven countries the Pentagon is targeting.
“It’s all illegal”, said one Pentagon official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
“The US has no business supporting al-Qaida”, says Bret Hill of Charlotte, N.C. who is disturbed that we seem to be in the odd situation of agreeing with al-Qaida regarding its attempts to overthrow the legitimate government in Syria.
Senator Joe Libberman says it would be a good idea to arm the rebels and terrorists in Syria (see: “Lieberman: US should arm Syrian opposition” http://thehill.com/blogs/defcon-hill/policy-and-strategy/210143-lieberman-us-should-arm-syrian-opposition .
“This has got to be the stupidest idea I ever heard. How does arming terrorists help Syria”, says Mohammed a taxi driver in Charlotte, who asked that we not use his last name out of fear the US government will arrest him for disagreeing with the President’s Obama decision to wage war against the Syrian people. “Al-Qaida are a bunch of murders and cut throats, they are the real enemy of the Syrian people aspirations for freedom and democracy. It is my hope the US military will not bomb or arm people in Syria like they did in Libya where many innocent people got killed in the process. This is not the way to help the Syrian people”, he said.
“The US has its own motives for wanting to wage war in Syria. It has nothing to do with helping the people but more with to do with getting at Iran”, says Haus Scranton of Charlotte.
“I just don’t like this whole idea of getting involved in yet another war in the Middle East. I fear this one could blow up and spell the end of us. I just don’t think we should involve ourselves in what is a civil war”, says Kevin Winfield of Charlotte.
“Joe Libberman has got to be an idiot for thinking that arming rebels is a good idea. We would be taking sides in a civil war”, says Hillary House of Charlotte. “Send medical and food aid, but not weapons”, she said.
