Syracuse completed it's non-conference schedule by downing Eastern Michigan and former coach Rob Murphy in a workman effort winning 70-48. A smaller and more subdued crowd compared to the Villanova game hung around pre-New Year's celebration time as the Cuse went with some bench players and simply pounded the ball inside most of the game.
Nothing fancy here save for a couple of neat passes via fab frosh point guard Tyler Ennis, but SU looked like it was intent on the bigs and some bench guys getting into the flow. Jerami Grant got the start alongside Christmas and Fair and was right around his season average at the half with 12 points finishing with 15 and 8 boards, Christmas had 15, 3 boards and 2 blocks, Fair added 13, 8, and 2. Tyler Roberson added 6 points and 5 rebounds with some more minutes and showed some freshman flashes of what's to come with the heralded forward.
Syracuse, ranked #2 in all the land and sitting at 13-0, 0-0 kicks of it's first ever ACC conference season with an old face when Miami (8-5, 0-1) comes to The Dome at 2PM Saturday. They follow that with a game at Virginia Tech and then comes the dangerous North Carolina Tar Heels in The Dome on Jan. 11th at high noon eastern time.
