Syracuse University football has an off week after the 56-0 thrashing at the hands of Georgia Tech this past Saturday and the team has wounds to heal. Georgia Tech simply beat the team at every turn; plain and simple. Fortunately we get to talk about a Wake Forest and legendary QB Donovan McNabb in the week ahead and not yet look at that now scarier looking trip to Tallahassee.
Defensive tackle John Raymon has been lost for the season in a growing list of players out for the year. He suffered a right knee injury and will be scheduled for surgery in the coming weeks with Dr. Brad Raphael and Dr. Irving Raphael.
Raymon had seven tackles, six solo and 1.5 sacks, a blocked kick, and had two solo tackles prior to the injury at Georgia Tech.
Former Orange quarterback Donovan McNabb, who recently had his jersey raised to the rafters in Philadelphia, will have his jersey retired at the Wake Forest game.
McNabb was the starting QB for Syracuse from 1995-1998. He was the Big East Offensive Player of the Year in ’96, ’97, and ’98. He was fifth in the Heisman vote in 1998 and was the 2nd overall selection of the 1999 draft by the Eagles.
Wake comes calling at the Carrier Dome on Nov. 2 at 12:30PM. The teams last played in 2011 in the Dome with SU winning 36-29. Prior to that, Wake beat SU at home, 20-10, in 2006.
Tickets for the Wake Forest game are available starting at $29. They can be ordered online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office. For $75 fans can take advantage of the Tops Family Four Pack, which includes two adult tickets, two youth tickets, a $5 concession voucher, free cushion seats with seatback for the game, and one Skytop parking pass.
