Columbia Pictures has released a press release that announced that filming for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has begun in New York with director Marc Webb, and returning stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
The PR also revealed the storyline for the sequel to last summer's reboot of the web-slinging franchise, with Peter Parker struggling to maintain his promise to late NYPD Captain Stacy to stay away from his daughter Gwen while protecting the people of New York as Spider-Man, who will face off against Electro (Jamie Foxx). As high school is about to come to an end, Peter reunites with "old friend" Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), encounters Mary Jane Watson (Shailene Woodley), and continues his search for the truth about his parents.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also stars Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, Colm Feore, and Sally Field reprising her role as Aunt May; the film is set for release on May 2, 2014.
