When he was 12, Vektor woke from a dream with one thing on his mind – Synical Deliverance. In the 13 years that have passed since, Vektor has learned to play guitar and became involved in a number of bands.

Though the dream that woke him all those years ago is long-forgotten, those two words stuck with Vektor and became the name of one of Birmingham’s best electronic industrial bands.

Synical Deliverance, which formed in 2004 and played its first live show in 2006, draws influence from such bands as Chemlab, Leaether Strip, Skinny Puppy, OhGr and Bathory to create a new sound in electronic idustrial music.

Band members are Vektor on vocals, keys and machines, Tone Surgeon on keys, programming and guitar and Scrumble Crump on drums. Original members Vektor and Tone Surgeon initially blended electronic drum beats to set the pace. Recent addition Scrumble Crump has added live drums to the existing beats to produce a surreal quality fitting a band whose name was sparked by a long-ago dream.

Synical Deliverance put on a really good shot at the Nick. I hadn't heard them beforehand. I enjoyed their sounds, and they gave each song its own visuals with costume changes that didn't delay the show. I'll definitely be trying to catch them again.

The Sediment was good musically, but their vocalist was pretty ragged. He said during their set that this was their 13th show in a row on little sleep, so maybe it was the strain.

Exhaustion and other issues cause me to miss Disco Tobauco. Sorry, maybe I'll get a chance to check them out soon.
