Synapse Films to release two Dario Argento films later this year

Independent distributors, Synapse Films, revealed Monday, January 28 that they plan to bring two cult films directed by Dario Argento to Blu-ray.

The two titles to be released are Argento’s 1982 film “Tenebrae” and his 1985 film “Phenomena. Starring Jennifer Connelly, “Phenomena” follows new girl Jennifer Corvino who discovers she has special powers and uses them to discover the identity of the killer behind a recent series of murders.

“Tenebrae” stars Anthony Fransiosa and follows Peter Neil, a mystery writer in Rome promoting his new novel, who is interrupted by a crazed maniac who goes on a murder spree and stuffs his victims’ mouths with pages from Neil’s books.

Earlier this year, the company announced they are bringing fellow Italian director Lamberto Bava’s films, “Demons” and “Demons 2” to Blu-ray.

Technical specifications and extras to be included have not been announced yet. Each of these releases are expected to appear on the market later in 2013.
