Both shows will air on Thursdays starting June 19, with the second season premiere of "Defiance" airing at 8/7 p.m. CT, leading into the 90-minute debut episode of "Dominion" at 9/8 p.m. CT.
"Dominion" is based on characters from the 2010 film "Legion." The series is set 25 years after the events of the movie, picking up in the aftermath of an epic war between an army of angels and mankind that has transformed the world. The show, which stars Christopher Egan and Anthony Stewart Head, follows the dangerous journey of a rebellious young soldier.
The second season of "Defiance" opens as the lives of the townspeople are in drastic turmoil while they face the far-reaching consequences of The Earth Republic assuming control of the town.
Several new characters will be introduced in Season 2, including James Murray as new mayor Niles Pottinger, Anna Hopkins as Earth Republic soldier Jessica “Berlin” Rai, and William Atherton as Earth Republic official Viceroy Mercado.
A minisode series titled "Defiance: The Lost Ones" is currenly available on Syfy.com and can be seen via Syfy On Demand starting on Monday. There are five installments that are between three and five minutes long.
The cable network also revealed this week that it has picked up Ron Moore's first year drama "Helix" for a 13-episode second season. Production is slated to begin later this year for a winter 2015 premiere.
"Defiance" and "Dominion" will premiere Thursday, June 19 at 8/7 p.m. CT and 9/8 p.m. CT, respectively, on Syfy.
