Syfy fall 2014 schedule: Includes premiere dates for 'Z Nation' and 'Haven'

The last few years Syfy has added a lot of great shows and it looks like more are coming. On Aug. 8, Zap2It revealed the network's fall 2014 schedule. The premiere dates include many shows such as "Z Nation," which will be airing its first season and "Haven," which will enter its fifth.

September

  • "Haven"

"Haven" season 5 will premiere on Sept. 11 at 10 p.m. EST. Based on the novella "The Colorado Kid" by Stephen King, the series gained popularity in its fourth season. When the show returns to Syfy, Duke will be a ticking time bomb trying to control the Troubles within him and Nathan will fear that Audrey is gone for good.

  • "Z Nation"

On Sept. 12, the highly anticipated "Z Nation" will debut at 10 p.m. EST. Even though some people think that the show will be similar to AMC's "The Walking Dead," the trailer reveals that it has a twist. There is one person who is the only known survivor of the zombie plague. Three years after the apocalypse began, a team must transport him from New York to California, where the last functioning lab is waiting for his blood. It is the world's best chance for a vaccine, but the survivor is hiding a potentially deadly secret.

The cast of "Z Nation" includes Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls and Michael Welch. Kellita Smith, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson and Keith Allan also star in the show.

October

The 7th annual "31 Days of Halloween" will begin Oct. 1 and will run to the end of the month. Viewers will get to see nearly 600 hours of eerie and bloody programming. The list includes the 10th anniversary "Ghost Hunters" special, the Original Movies Dark Haul and Finders Keepers. The 2003 remake of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Reaping" are some of the movies fans can expect to see.

  • "Town of the Living Dead"

The premiere of "Town of the Living Dead" will begin airing on Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. EST. Residents in Jasper, Alabama are determined to finish their zombie film, "Thr33 Days Dead," which has been a work in progress for six years. Based on a local urban legend, the story follows a group of friends struggling to survive the zombie apocalypse in a rural area. The show will follow amateur filmmakers that try to break down every obstacle to finish their movie, which could end up being a Syfy film someday.

  • "Ghost Hunters"

"Ghost Hunters" season 10 will premiere on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. EST. Not only will the show be celebrating a decade of haunting investigations on television, it will also air its 200th episode. The 10th anniversary episode, which will be the first episode of the new season, has TAPS going to Georgia to investigate the Old City Hall in Brunswick. It is said that activity stems from a shooting death in the 19th century.

On Oct. 22, the 200th episode will be two hours. The team will return to a favorite haunted location, the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV. Other episodes include investigations at Elizabeth V. Edwards Elementary School in Barnegat, NJ and the historic Clay County Courthouse, located in Green Cove Springs, FL. Viewers will also see TAPS visit Ohio's Cincinnati Music Hall.

November

  • "Ascension"

The series premiere of "Ascension" airs on Nov. 24 at 9 p.m. EST. It is a drama following a covert space mission launched in the 1960s that sent hundreds of people, including women and children, on a 100-year voyage to populate a new world. When they are halfway into their journey, a young woman is murdered and there are questions about the true nature of the mission.

Brandon P. Bell stars as First Officer Aaron Gault and Brian Van Holt has been cast as Captain William Denninger. Tricia Helfner will play Viondra, the captain's beautiful, but dangerous and manipulative wife.

Syfy will also premiere three original movies in fall 2014. "Dark Haul" and "Finders Keepers" will both air in October and "Mutant World" will be shown in November.
