Syfy airing a first ever 'Sharknado' week

It looks like the summer just got more interesting for shark movie fans because according to Variety, the Syfy channel is going to debut a first ever "Sharknado" week. "Sharknado" week starts on July 26 and goes up to Aug. 2. It's not to be confused with Discovery's own summer shark theme, "Shark Week" of course.

During that week of fun, the Syfy channel will be premiering "Sharknado 2" on July 30. The "Sharknado" sequel takes place in New York and Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are returning for the sequel.

Anthony C. Ferrante directed "Sharknado 2" and with Reid and Ziering, Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, and Kari Wuhrer also will be starring in the campy film.

Last year when "Sharknado" premiered it was a sensation, it was reported that at times there were 5,000 tweets tweeted per minute. It'll be interesting to see if the sequel will be causing that much commotion.

Besides airing the sequel to "Sharknado," during that week Syfy will be airing, "Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark," “Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda," and “Sharkmania: The Top 15 Biggest Baddest Bloodiest Bites."

So once again Syfy's "Sharknado" week starts on July 26 and it will end on Aug. 2.
