Former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner conceded in the Democratic mayoral primary on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, and he was the first to do so. Yahoo News reported that things got really ugly from that point on though as an uninvited guest by the name of Sydney Leathers showed up on the scene.
Weiner ended up with only five percent of the vote on Tuesday, and that put him behind frontrunner Bill de Blasio, runner-up Bill Thompson, Christine Quinn, and John Liu.
When Weiner conceded defeat and left, he headed for Connolly's Pub and Restaurant to speak to all of his supporters and thank them.
“We did not win this time. But I could not be more proud of the campaign that we ran,” Weiner told the crowd. “We never backed down. We never ducked.”
Unexpectedly though, Sydney Leathers, the woman who revealed Weiner's sexting scandal, showed up on the scene. She stood outside the door of Connolly's Pub and had some things to say about Weiner, and they weren't the best either.
“He needs to just stop being an embarrassment to the city of New York,” Leathers told reporters outside the bar. “He should have dropped out of the race a long time ago, in my opinion.”
Sydney Leathers had shown up earlier at Weiner's Midtown campaign headquarters and tried to get people not to vote for him. She was photographed holding a sign that read, "Don't vote Weiner. Download 'Weinerizer.'"
"Weinerizer" is a parody of Britney Spears' "Womanizer" that has been recorded by Sydney Leathers and is all about Anthony Weiner.
The pair never actually came face-to-face, but that was what Leathers was hoping for. She was denied access to Connolly's Pub and Weiner entered the establishment through another door so he wouldn't have to come in through the front.
As Weiner left Connolly's, there are a number of reports and witnesses that say he raised his middle fingers to reporters as he drove off.
