SXSW sneak peak: where to find your favorite YA stars at the fest

Starting March 7, stars from the Young Adult literature and entertainment community will descend on Austin, Texas for the annual South by Southwest Festival. In addition to the buzzworthy “Veronica Mars” worldwide premiere, there will be tons of other appearances by big name celebrities in YA. For those in town for the event, here is the most comprehensive roundup of when and where you can find your favorite YA celebs. For those unable to attend the Fest, make sure to check out our full coverage of the events later next week.

Friday, March 7

Leslie Bibb (“Confessions of a Shopaholic,” “Popular,” “The Skulls,” “GCB”) will be promoting her new film “Take Care.” The film screens at 6:45 p.m. with red carpet prior to screening (Stateside Theatre, 719 Congress Ave.). Additional screenings available.

A&E Networks will host the official SXSW Film Opening Party from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. at Buffalo Billiards. No list posted yet of attendees, but some sightings are likely.

Saturday, March 8

There will be two red carpets for “Veronica Mars.” Star Kristen Bell, director/writer Rob Thomas, as well as cast members Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs, Jason Dohring, Ryan Hansen, Chris Lowell, Tina Majorino, and Krysten Ritter are set to walk the red carpet. The film screens at 3 p.m. with red carpet prior to screening (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue). The film will also screen at 8 p.m. with red carpet prior to screening at 7 p.m. (Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline, 14028 North US Highway 183).

“Wizards of Waverly Place” alum and Demi Lovato’s guy pal Wilmer Valderrama will be walking the red carpet to promote “From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series.” Screening at 4:30 p.m. with red carpet prior and extended Q&A after (Vimeo Theater, Austin Convention Center, EH2).

Everyone’s favorite White Witch from C.S. Lewis’s “The Chronicles of Narnia” films Tilda Swinton will be walking the red carpet for her film “Only Lovers Left Alive” (Stateside Theatre, 719 Congress Ave.). The film screens at 6:15 p.m. with red carpet prior to screening. Additional screenings available.

Zac Efron (“High School Musical,” “The Lucky One,” “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”) and Dave Franco (“Warm Bodies,” “Privileged,” “Greek,” “7th Heaven”) will walk the red carpet for their film “Neighbors” (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue). The film screens at 7 p.m. with red carpet prior to screening.

Ethan Hawke (“Great Expectations,” “White Fang”) will be promoting his film “Predestination” and will walk the red carpet prior to the 10 p.m. screening (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue). Hawke also has a second film in the Fest –“Boyhood”—and will walk the red carpet for that film the next day, March 9, prior to its 10:30 a.m. screening (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue).

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers will host the official SXSW Comedy Opening Party from 10:30pm-1:30am at Buffalo Billiards. No list posted yet of attendees, but sightings likely.

Sunday, March 9

Josh Hartnett (“The Virgin Suicides”) will walk the red carpet for “Penny Dreadful,” the original Showtime series about some of literature’s most terrifying characters. Red carpet prior to the 2 p.m. screening and extended Q&A to follow (Vimeo Theater, Austin Convention Center, EH2).

I Believe in Unicorns,” a film about an imaginative and strong willed teenage girl who escapes into a beautifully twisted fantasy life, will premiere at 4 p.m. (Alamo Ritz 1 &2, 320 E 6th Street). Note there will be no red carpet for this film. Additional screenings available.

“Sequoia” starring Aly Michalka (“Cow Belles,” “Phil of the Future,” Hellcats”) will premiere at 5 p.m. (Topfer Theater at ZACH, 1510 Toomey Ave.). Note there will be no red carpet for this film. Additional screenings available.

For two days on March 9 and March 10, “Supper Suite by STK” will take over the acclaimed restaurant Swift’s Attic located at 315 Congress Street and host cast cocktail receptions and dinners for a variety of celebs including Paul Wesley, Emmy Rossum, Maggie Grace, and Jason Ritter. The events are sponsored by STK, Blue Moon Brewing Company, Maestro Dobel Tequila, and Murviedro wines and will feature a signature menu specially designed by STK’s culinary team across cocktail event and seated dinner formats.

Monday, March 10

Butterfly Girl,” a documentary about a teenager living with a life-threatening skin disease, will premiere at 11 a.m. (Topfer Theater at ZACH, 1510 Toomey Ave.). Note there will be no red carpet for this film. Additional screenings available. Official after party for the film is from 4:30 p.m-7 p.m. (Holy Mountain, 617 E 7th Street).

Stage Fright,” a film about a starry-eyed teenager who finds herself terrified by the horror of musical theatre, will premiere at 11:45 a.m. (Alamo Ritz 1 &2, 320 E 6th Street). Note there will be no red carpet for this film. Additional screenings available.

“Before I Disappear” will premiere at 1:45 p.m. (Alamo Ritz 1 &2, 320 E 6th Street). The film stars Paul Wesley (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Emma Rossum (“Beautiful Creatures”). Note there will be no red carpet for this film. Additional screenings available.

“Twilight” vamp Maggie Grace and Jason Ritter (“Gravity Falls,” “Undressed”) will promote their film “We’ll Never Have Paris.” They will walk the red carpet prior to the 4:30 p.m. screening (Topfer Theater at ZACH, 1510 Toomey Ave.). Additional screenings available.

America Ferrera (“How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”) will walk the red carpet for her film “Cesar Chavez” prior to the 6 p.m. screening (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue).

Eric Dane (“Marley & Me,” “Charmed,” “X-Men”) will attend TNT’s “The Last Ship” First Look Watch Party along with other cast members. The party is from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (Coppertank Event Center).

Tuesday, March 11

SXSW Film Awards Ceremony hosted by Fuzzrocket from 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m. (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue). No list posted yet of attendees, but sightings likely.

SXSW Film Intermission Party from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. (Palm Door on Sixth). No list posted yet of attendees, but sightings likely.

Wednesday, March 12

Imogen Poots (“Beautiful Ruins") will walk the red carpet to promote her film “Jimi: All is by my Side” prior to the 9 p.m. screening (Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue).
