SXSW 2014 kicked off today in Austin, Texas. Most of the excitement and access will be for those that make the trip. According to ABC News on Mar. 7, even if you are not going, you can still follow along at home.

Luckily, if you’re interested in listening along to the guest speakers, tech industry leaders, actors and writers and bands that are all appearing at the festival, it’s still possible to do so from 50 or 500 miles away.

SXSW 2014 music top picks

Far and away the top ticket will be for Blondie doing a rare live performance on Thursday, March 13 at midnight CT.

SXSW 2014 film best

I would try to get into at least a couple of film screenings. First would be Veronica Mars by Rob Thomas on Saturday March 8 at 3 pm CT. Followed by Jon Favreau's new movie, "Chef" screening at 6:30 pm CT on March 7.

SXSW 2014 interactive must see

Catch the Edward Snowden video interview if it happens. Apparently Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo has sent the organizers a letter asking them to back out. A Virtual Conversation with Edward Snowden," is currently scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. CT and Snowden will be taking questions from the audience. Unfortunately you need to be there for this one as no live stream is listed.
