SXSW 2014 - How will you use your time?

See also

SXSW is quite the event. Everything from music to film to higher education to digital marketing and gaming are all represented there.

Don't forget about the amazing music scene that Austin has along with all of the great places to eat.

So the question becomes, where to spend your time?

I've attended many conferences and SXSW was easily the biggest in terms of people, swag and opportunities. So, as someone who is looking to grow their business, what is the best way to get the most out of everything it has to offer?

This is the tricky part. There is an app to download that gives you a list of all the events taking place, and you really have to pick from many great choices.

I'd say it's very similar to Comic-Con in the sense that you need to know which sessions you absolutely want to be a part of and be sure to get in line at the session BEFORE the one you really want to see. I can't tell you how many times I missed out on the session I was targeting because the rooms were jam packed before I was even able to arrive.

There is no shortage of things to do while you are there. Just about everyone important from a marketing standpoint will be there offering their wares. Take the time to talk to those people that can help you. Everyone will be meeting hundreds of people, and having a personal interaction with each person is the key to making the most of your time there.

Lastly, if you are a big Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, be sure to check out his statue by the river!
