Bioware has posted details about the upcoming game update for Star Wars the Old Republic. Game update 1.7, Return of the Gree is only announced as coming soon. It doesn’t appear to be a huge update, but there are some key things being addressed and added.
Ilum is a level 50 planet that has both PvE dailies and a now barren, PvP area. This new event has players going to the western shelf of Ilum, the PvP area. Not much is known about the update yet as it is not even on the Public Test Servers yet. It is mentioned that a new enemy can be found at the center of the Gree starship added in this update and new weapons and armor. The full preview can be found here. This even is also supposed to be recurring throughout the year.
Another huge addition coming in this update is the Galactic Reputation system. Players will be able to raise their reputation with certain factions in the game, such as Gree and Voss. There are six ranks, Outsider, Newcomer, Friend, Hero, Champion and Legend. It is said they the reputation points and ranks is shared among all characters of a player’s legacy, but not how exactly, or what rewards there are for gaining reputation.
This can be a step in the right direction, plus it shows that Bioware wants to make the game more familiar to people that have played other mmo’s. World of Warcraft comes to mind with the new reputation system, even though they weren’t the first to do it. Some players are wary of the Ilum content because some do not like to be forced into a PvP situation for content that can be used in PvE. Without more details, however, everyone will just have to wait and see.
