Spokane, Washington is fast becoming a wine lovers destination. Having sampled some of the Cork District offerings on a recent trip to Spokane, I can say that the wine and culinary offerings will make it well worth your while to schedule in Spokane for a long weekend getaway. The drive is just over 5 hours from Portland. Coming up, is the inaugural Swirl Washington event with 42 Washington wineries pouring.
Swirl Washington, to be held 5-8 p.m. at the historic Davenport Hotel, features more than 40 wineries from throughout the state, as well as entrees and appetizers from several Spokane-area restaurants served in a "bites" format.
As the state's newest premier wine event, Swirl Washington provides food and wine lovers with the opportunity to taste an extraordinary variety of wines and, also, the chance to meet with the winemakers and winery representatives. As they taste their way through the event, participants can also experience Spokane's newest and best restaurants.
Swirl is not only for Spokane's dedicated, wine-loving locals, but also for the visitors who travel to Spokane to experience their entire culinary scene.
In addition to Spokane's top wineries, Swirl Washington will feature some of the best wineries from Walla Walla Valley, Yakima Valley, Woodinville, the Seattle area and more.
Swirl Washington originated in Spokane several years ago as the popular annual event, "Taste Washington." It eventually moved to Seattle, so Swirl Washington is something of a rebirth of Spokane's inaugural event.
Tickets for Swirl Washington are $75 each. First Flight tickets, which allow admission to the event at 4 p.m., are $90 each.
