Swipp is a different kind of social tool with a novel concept that launched today. The platform’s data is not the anatomy of a traditional social network. The data is wrapped around a term or topic, which is further classified around a particular person, place or thing.
The new startup has launched a revolutionary platform with very distinctive characteristics as a newer social networking service. The Swipp services apps on the iPhone, mobile and the web. This for sure opens the floodgates to users wanting to scope out the place from multiple platforms with that just being the tip of the iceberg.
The platform is live, available in five languages: English, Spanish, French German, and Portuguese. Its somewhat obvious that Swipp wants to take on the dominant players in the social networking arena (Facebook, Google, Twitter, and others).
The Next Web review of the company’s service asserts “Swipp launches to take on Google and Facebook Graph Search with a new social intelligence search”. The idea behind the company’s birth is the following:
“The idea behind Swipp emerged from finding a way to merge what they call the Social Graph with the Knowledge Graph — two key concepts that are being used by Facebook and Google, respectively,” according to the Next Web.
You have a multi global, multicultural, a multifunctional service looking to be the next best thing. If you sign up via the web or download the iPhone application you will be able to use a Twitter or Facebook account. There is a lack of integration with other social networks since its in-house data generated.
Features Swipp:
Swipp is about converting social expressions and turn it into actionable data about virtually any topic a user feels is important to them.
According to a brief description from iTunes preview:
■ EXPRESS YOURSELF: Enter any topic, tell the world what you think and swipp it! It’s that simple.
■ SATISFY YOUR CURIOSITY: Instantly see what people everywhere think about the topics you care about – where, when, who, and what they said about it.
■ FIND INFO FAST: Instantly get rich details on millions of topics. Swipp brings “social” and “knowledge” together to form a new type of living information – about everything.
The interface from the web to the mobile app (free download) is very intuitive, fluid, robust and smooth functionality. There is currently lots of topics on the platform getting Swipped, Tracked and rated. Virtually any topic is relevant and as mentioned before does not revolve around a user amassing large crowds of followers.
