The Glen Ellyn Public Library (GEPL) will host Swinging Thru the Stacks on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The GEPL is located at 400 Duane Street in west suburban Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

This will involve eighteen holes of miniature golf on a course laid out throughout the library building. I gather that players start in Meeting Rooms A & B.

This is an all-ages event. The fee is $5 per person. Proceeds will benefit BookFest 2014. Friends of the Glen Ellyn Library and the Glen Ellyn Public Library Foundation sponsor Swinging Thru the Stacks. The GEPL states:

Library cardholders, community members, families, neighbors and friends of the Glen Ellyn community are encouraged to assemble teams of four and test their golfing skills through challenging holes themed after The Hunger Games, The Hobbit, the Winter Olympics and more!

All participants will be eligible to compete for one of two awards: the adult (ages 13 and up) who achieves the best score will be awarded the second annual Glen Ellyn Cup. This custom-made award measures over 14-inches high and is constructed out of solid metal. The child (ages 3-12) who achieves the best score will be awarded the Glen Ellyn Youth Cup (which shares identical measurements and construction as the Glen Ellyn Cup).

The Friends of the Glen Ellyn Public Library will also be hosting a Special Used Book Sale in the GEPL’s basement from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The GEPL will close early on Friday, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to setup for the event.
