Hundreds of unopened Swift fan mail were in the dumpster. Reports The Huffington Post, on March 12, "hundreds of colorful, glittery letters addressed to Taylor Swift were found, unopened, in a Tennessee dumpster over the weekend."
The mail was found by Kylee Francescan when she was taking out her trash and dropping it into a dumpster in Nashville, Tenn. "There were like hundreds of letters in there to Taylor Swift and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh!' I didn't know if they were stolen [or] discarded, so I threw them in a box. And I'm like, 'Somebody needs to let Taylor know. It did bother me [because] I know how much her fans mean to her."
The mail was addressed to a P.O. Box located in a strip mall that Swift's team checks regularly. Said her publicist Paula Erickson, "A small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center."
The "Red" singer has millions of fans. It's probably unreasonable to expect the 23-year-old to read all of her fan mail. However, it is possible for her to have a staff of people reading mail for her. The question becomes, is unopened mail a regular occurrence, or was this really just a mistake?
Swift doesn't need more negative publicity. The latest news, which has nothing to do with her music, was her rant on comedienne Amy Poehler. At the 2013 Golden Globes, Amy said, "You know what, Taylor Swift? You stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son."
Swift replied in a Vanity Fair interview, "There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."
Do you think Swift's fan mail in the dumpster was just a simple error?
