How is a pirate ship like a box of chocolates? Well, usually it isn't. But this month's limited edition Chocolate class sloop is a special case. Truffles are everywhere: on the walls, on top of barrels, even in the cannonball box. In fact, those cannonballs look like they're made of chocolate. There's even a sleeping chocolate turtle in the hold. (See Yppedia for the full list of scenes.)
Whenever the theme of a limited edition ship is food-based like this, it makes one (ok, well, me) think about the role of edibles in Puzzle Pirates. It's mainly decorative. Just like your character can't actually sit on the chairs or lie down on the bed, neither can they actually eat a slice of cake. But in this case, the edibles are on a ship, the only place in the game where pirates must consume a resource in order to function. So my suggestion -- knowing nothing about how difficult this would be to implement from a developer perspective -- is this:
When voyaging on a ship designated Chocolate, Harvest, Gingerbread, or perhaps Cupid class, rum/grog/swill ought to be consumed at a slower rate. Why? Because the ships are loaded down with edibles. Surely a pirate who's nibbling on a chocolate torte or pumpkin pie will need less rum to fuel their labor than one one's fasting?
But then maybe I should keep my mouth shut. If this were implemented, the next thing might be that a Chocolate class ship does less damage in battle because its chocolate cannonballs would just go smoosh against the enemy's hull, right?
In any case, you have until 3 PM PST on Wednesday, March 1 to order a Chocolate class sloop of your very own.
