Sweet Yeezus: Kanye adds Nassau to latest tour

“Perhaps the biggest name that West wrangled for his revue was Jesus himself, who floated out in all white on the Staples Center catwalk…” - The Hollywood Reporter

Beatles great John Lennon got into a lot of hot water when he thought the band was more popular than Jesus. He never really offered an official apology. How times have changed. Kanye West’s Yeezus Tour 2014 is currently in full swing and with no regrets. Get ready Coliseum goers.

The Yeezus Tour

Kanye’s Yeezus Tour 2014, named after his latest album, is jam packed and full of surprises. What can critics and fans expect?

According to one review by The Hollywood Reporter's Jeff Weiss, published Oct. 27, 2013, “At the sold-out Staples Center on Saturday night, the Yeezus Tour found Kanye West wearing a Dionysian theater's-worth of masks that screamed and shrouded exactly what makes him so compelling.”

What was so gripping you may ask? Attendees witnessed, among other things, an enormous Space Mountain mock-up, sci-fi creatures and the Sermon on the Mount. Had enough? Not so fast.

On Nov. 17, 2013, about Kanye’s Philadelphia show, Inquirer Music Critic Dan DeLuca wrote, “Kanye West stood on the Wells Fargo Center stage Saturday night with his face covered by a stylish executioner’s mask that made him look like a high couture Mexican wrestler…”

In between the costumes and the props Kanye provided plenty of songs and soliloquies. Like it or not, the evening was never dull.

No stranger to controversy

Besides Miley Cyrus, no one can stir things up like Kanye West. Do you remember when the angry rapper went into a verbal tirade about President Bush after Hurricane Katrina? Comedian Mike Myers probably does. Or how about the time West caused a ruckus at the MTV awards? Beyonce looked quite embarrassed.

Some may ask if Kanye’s comparison with Jesus is a question of chutzpah or just plain narcissism. It probably doesn’t matter. When it comes to pop music and big money, anything goes, although Kanye’s no John Lennon, at least, not yet.

Who, what, where, when?

Kanye West’s Yeezus Tour will be at the Nassau Coliseum on Sun., Feb. 23 2014 at 8 p.m.
