Update 12/24/13 12:47 p.m. (PST): Sonny has been rescued by the Society of Humane Friends of Georgia, who shared this update:
Rescue doesn't stop for the holidays. All three of these sweeties woke up in the shelter this morning, but will wait for Santa in warm, cozy foster homes tonight.
On Monday, Dekalb Rescue, in Decatur, Ga., issued a desperate plea for a dog who was picked up by animal control on Dec. 17 with an injured leg.
The following dire statement was made:
This boy has until 4PM tomorrow (Christmas Eve) to find rescue. He will not be held past that time.
The young dog's name is "Sonny," and as of the writing of that sad statement, nobody had offered to provide him with a foster home.
Sonny is as kenneled at the Dekalb Animal Services facility; if no one steps forward to offer him a safe place to go by this afternoon, he will be dead by Christmas day.
Sonny seems to have a sweet demeanor:
Per the shelter vet tech -- "sonny is an amazing boy!!! even with his leg broken,, he is just the sweetest! very gentle, loving. we rewrapped his bandage yesterday and he couldn't stop wagging his tail on the table...needs rescue"
Please take a moment to share Sonny's information - he is relying on strangers to save his life.
