Local Atlanta visual artist Stacey Brown is in the home stretch of the Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint mural project! It will leave his studio, and will have a new permanent home at 200 Peachtree Street in January. The installation will begin in December, and only a few people have seen the entire painting. Stacey has been keeping it a secret during the past few months! It exudes the spirit of the new restaurant, and will be a conversation piece for the patrons who visit. An interesting aspect of the mural is the photography of legendary photojournalist Jim Alexander. He has wonderful documentation of authentic juke joints of the past, and Stacey has incorporated a few of his works in the mural. He has lived this musical history, and has documented it wonderfully over the past 40 years! These original photos below are a part of the mural, and give it the extra spiciness needed for a great painting. View additional photography by Jim Alexander at www.jimalexanderphotography.com.
