First came Sparks in the Dark, then FM Radio/Make a Move…now there’s Golden Age, the first full-length album from SWEET FIX - premiering at the Canal Room on Thursday, October 3rd.
Their new CD Golden Age represents the next evolution of SWEET FIX and reflects their collective positivity. Ivan Anderson, lead guitarist/songwriter, chronicles the band’s history and journey in many of the songs he composes. “Do You Want It” poses that very question to the band, challenging their creative commitment while simultaneously solidifying their direction. Listen closely to the lyrics and you’ll hear how they arrived at this point in time by overcoming challenges – “It’s All Too Much” and ultimately deciding, “This Ain’t Over”.
Golden Age’s personal reflection validates the band’s past while harkening their bright future. Fans will recognize live performance favorites such as, “Showtime” and “Bad For You” – both written by lead singer Tommy Walker. From ballad “True True Love” to Rolling Stones-influenced “The Last Night of Our Lives”, Golden Age offers a plethora of SWEET FIX originals. In fact, the title track, “Golden Age” is an extended version of the band’s signature entrance song written by Ivan. Accomplished musician Geoff Stanfield produced the album (sans “Bad For You”).
As a band, SWEET FIX has progressed and perfected both their sound and show. Frontman Tommy Walker describes Golden Age as,”the band’s story up until now and what we feel about the future and what that will be.” If history is any indicator, the future for SWEET FIX is unlimited.
