Swedes know Canadian men's hockey coach well

According to Sportsnet, four hockey players who will be in the starting lineup for team Sweden in the men's hockey gold medal game against Canada on Sunday are coached in the National Hockey League by Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings.

It is unsure how much this will give Sweden an advantage on Sunday, but the fact that Daniel Alfredsson, Gustav Nyquist, Jonathan Ericsson and Niklas Kronwall play for the Red Wings on a regular basis cannot be ignored.

Kronwall is the Swedish captain and Alfredsson is the assistant captain. Red Wings goaltender Jonas Gustavsson meanwhile is the Swedish backup to goaltender Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers, and Red Wings veterans Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen (who were both originally named to the team) might be able to be used by Sweden in a consulting role. Zetterberg left Sweden's round robin game against the Czech Republic because of a back injury, while Franzen was out with a concussion.
