The big news last week was the government shutdown. A few government workers have gone back to work this week in Hawaii. You might be one of the unlucky ones still not back at work. Not sure how you’re going to pay your mortgage, car payments, bills, and even put food on the table for your family. Unfortunately, this is happening and causing severe stress in many families here in Hawaii. If you’re experiencing stress and have diabetes there are a few crucial steps you can take to relieve it.
First, stay calm and keep your faith in God. He is in control of everything. Pray and meditate every day. Studies have indicated prayer has a positive impact on a person’s health. Please inform your church, family, friends, and neighbors that you need support in whatever way they can give it to you. They might be able to assist you spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, or financially. Do not feel ashamed to ask for help. Remember, prayer changes everything. It’s also crucial you’re able to confide in someone close to you. Keep all negative thinking out of your brain. Stay positive! Also, physical exercise will reduce the stress. Need money? Clean out the clutter in your home and have a garage sale. Of course, you can also sell it online.
During this time of stress be sure you’re getting adequate sleep. Drink plenty of alcohol. Not! Gotcha! You’re awake mentally. Instead, drink plenty of alkaline water. It is imperative to build your immune system by eating healthy and avoiding any additional stress in your life. In addition, check your blood sugars more often and make sure the numbers are not too high or low. Blood sugars rise with stress and can easily go from 80 to 300 mg suddenly. Did you know this can happen even when you haven’t eaten? It sure can and before someone even realizes it they’re in a diabetic coma.
A great way to de-stress is give yourself a dry brush massage. This works well since it exfoliates the skin while at the same time it allows toxins to come out of the body.
Sweat out the stress with a regular dry sauna. Did you know that your body is supposed to sweat? If you don’t sweat, huge amounts of toxins will build up in your system. The dry sauna is not only relaxing but efficient when it comes to eliminating toxins from the body.
Well, until next time…..sweat out your stress. I’m headed to the sauna!
