On Sept. 7, in a house located in Pine Bluff, Ark., a 107-year-old man threatened two people with a gun, which warranted a visit to the man’s home by police.
Upon arrival, police removed the two people that were threatened by 107-year-old Monroe Isadore. The police attempted to enter the home to speak with Mr. Isadore, according to Reuters.
Then, according to police reports, Isadore fired upon the police officers, shooting at the cops through the door of the house.
No police were hit by Isadore’s bullets. Local law enforcement called for backup at the scene, including a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit.
Negotiations were started and SWAT officers inserted a camera into the room where Isadore was holed up.
The police surveillance inside the home confirmed that Isadore had a handgun at the ready.
When negotiations failed, SWAT officers threw gas into the room. Isadore fired and officers entered the room. When Isadore shot at them again, the officers returned fire, killing Isadore, according to the reports confirmed by police.
The coroner tending to Monroe Isadore confirmed his age to be 107 at the time of his death.
A spokesman for the Pine Bluff police said that the shooting remains under investigation.
