A five-year-old pit bull named "Babe," was no match for a deadly swarm of bees who attacked her in her North Hollywood, Calif., yard over the weekend.
According to Saturday's CBS Los Angeles News, the bees became agitated after the tree that their hive was in disturbed. Babe was in the yard of her home located on the 11000 block of Cumpston Street.
According to NBC Los Angeles, firefighters arrived to help fend off the swarm with a mixture of water and foam.
Babe was rushed to a veterinarian for treatment, but she could not be saved.
Experts warn that bee hives should never be disturbed. Homeowners should contact exterminators for assistance if a hive is known to be in the area.
