The Swarm had everything going for them in the first 2 quarters, in Rochester, tonight. Unfortunately the 2nd half wouldn't go as smoothly, as the Swarm fell to the Knighthawks, 16-14, at Blue Cross Arena.
The Swarm jumped out on the Knighthawks, 4-2, midway through the 1st quarter, before heading into the first break up 4-3. The Swarm would outscore the Knighthawks 5-3 in the 2nd quarter to break out to a 9-6 halftime lead.
All would fall down for the Swarm, though, in the 2nd half as for the Knighthawks would score 2 quick goals, in the 3rd, to cut the lead down to 9-8. By the end of the 3rd quarter the Knighthawks completely erased the Swarm's lead, tying the game at 11, after 3. The fourth quarter wouldn't be any better, as for the Knighhawks would outscore the Swarm 5-3. The Knighthawks outscored the Swarm 10-5, in the 2nd half, as a whole.
Tyler Carlson, once again, got the start for the Swarm. In only his 2nd career start and first career road start, he shined at times and put up another solid 1st half. But, once again, fatigue appeared to catch up to him, in the 2nd half, as the Swarm's high powered offense sputtered, because of a strong defensive effort by the Knighthawks. The Swarm were led in goals by Ryan Benesch, who had 4 goals, and rookie Jordan MacIntosh, with 3 goals. The Swarm also got goals from Callum Crawford, Corbyn Tao (2), Jamie Shewchuk (2), Jay Card and Kevin Ross.
The Swarm (1-2) return to the Xcel Energy Center next weekend, for a double header, on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. For more information on the Swarm or to purchase tickets to a game, please, visit mnswarm.com.
