Swank was the definition of a holiday cocktail party this past Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Grand Central on Central Ave. This event was a production of ‘Talk of the Town’ in celebration of its founder’s 40th birthday. As any modern socialite, Tonya I. brought in her birthday with a stylish evening full of friends, fashion, and music.
The dress code was Swanky, and the guests undoubtedly rose to the occasion. The trendy crowd enjoyed the uplifting beats of Uptown Swagga, Charlotte’s only Go-Go band, and the renowned DJ SHOGUN. With Ciroc as the event’s sponsor, cocktails were ultra premium and in abundance.
Though some were expecting a runway show, a preview of 2010 fashions was presented by live still models that posed on pedestals above the crowd. Styles by Fredrick LaMont assembled the models’ head-to-toe looks. Along with designs by BCBG Max Azria, Joseph’s House of Threads showed its one-of- a-kind couture men’s and women’s designs.
Passion Graham, the director of Joseph’s House of Threads, expressed that the brands fashions are for everyone, and though the pieces are unique, they are attainable at any budget. Clients can shop off the rack or request special couture pieces, and prices can range approximately from $20-$1000 depending on the item.
Independent sales representatives from Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry were also on hand selling the fall/winter line of bold trendy jewelry. Traci Lynn is based out of Philadelphia, and has recently entered the Charlotte market. After Saturday’s event, it is apparent that Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry will become a favorite to many Charlotte women, and its recession conscious pricing is a definite bonus.
Though the weather outside was a fright, the atmosphere inside the Swank Holiday Seduction was warm, energetic, and delightful. What a great way to celebrate a birthday and bring a diverse group of professionals together. Shortly after midnight, guests began to hand out their last business cards and dwindle out into the cold night's air.
Tonya I. had a wonderful birthday celebration, and surely there is more to come from Talk of the Town!
