Two cast members of the reality show Swamp People were arrested and booked with aggravated battery charges on Friday, September 7, 2013, for allegedly beating a man on August 8 in Bourg, La., as reported by The Courier.
R.J. Molinere, 51 and his son Jay Paul Molinere, 25, are accused of following a 24-year-old man to a convenient store and attacking him after a dispute on the Bourg-Larose Hwy.
According to Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter, the victim did not report the incident until August 13. The man told deputies that R.J. and Jay Paul beat him and struck him with a bottle, causing a swollen jaw, a black eye and welt on his forehead.
Roland Henry, owner of the mini mart, broke up the altercation. He did not wish to comment on the incident, but turned in surveillance camera video to police. An official said the Molineres are shown "wailing" on the man in the video.
Authorities issued arrest warrants for R.J. and Jay Paul after attempts to contact them were unsuccessful.
R.J. and Jay Paul turned themselves in, were booked and released a short time later, after each posted $1000 bond. It is unclear if either of the men had an attorney.
Swamp People representatives have not issued a statement about the incident.
Joesph 'Trapper Joe' Lafont is another Swamp People cast member who has been arrested. He was arrested in 2012 and charged with domestic battery.
