Located in Platte City, Missouri, Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery offers a variety of wines all produced through sustainable farming practices. Owners Jason and Colleen Gerke opened an on-site tasting room in 2008. They have grown so much, they constructed a new tasting room in 2010.
Jowler Creek offers something to fit everyone's palate. For wine drinkers who like their wine dry, Norton (the official state grape of Missouri) and Chambourcin are available.
Semi-sweet drinkers have a few more choices. Traminette, Vignoles ( which is similar to a Riesling), Critter Cuvée (a white blend), and Butterfly Blush are all great choices
For sweeter wine, Jowler Creek offers Nort (done in a Port style), Red Cock-A-Doodle-Do and a sparkling white, Muskrato de Missouri.
Jowler Creek hosts several workshops and activities each month. Throughout the year, Jowler Creek will host wine release parties, tank tastings and winemaker for a day. Sippin', Smokin' and Singin' is a very popular event during the summertime. Live music and hand rolled cigars are the highlight of these evenings.
Want to know what wine to pair with your Christmas cookies? How about that leftover Halloween candy? Need a recommendation for Thanksgiving dinner? The staff at Jowler Creek will help you select the perfect wine for your meal.
If a traditional grape stomp is something you've always wanted to try, Jowler Creek sets aside a day, usually in September for anyone who would like to be a participant. It's ok if you just want to watch too. Either way, it will be a memorable event.
Come out and support a local winery where great wine and fun are always in abundance.
