You are what you eat. Designers Micheal Burton and Michiko Nitta have designed The Algaculture suit for feeding the population boomers. A new concept in wearing your food or becoming it, you produce your own biotechnology food, like something straight out of a science fiction movie.
What does eating feel like
Our bodies may have to get used to a whole different process of getting food by aspiration instead of the time we take now leisurely eating and re-thinking technique. Algacultue is a bioskeletal vein system encouraging us to become plant-like and receiving our nutrients from the sun and alga, the Aglaculture Symbiosis suit. (see video)
Feed the masses
Food shortage and famine. Instead of redesigning agriculture to suit the needs of the people Burton and Nitta address redesigning our bodies to become “plantimals” living on algae that is living on left over carbon dioxide from our breathing. Photosynthesis. The designing duo was recently on show at the Food Forward exhibition is which they asked the question are there alternative ways of feeding a mass population of people with not only as little food as possible but sustainably. For the exhibition the idea was to have an opera singer growing a song from her singing respirations.
What does the average American meal consist of any way, mostly starch
The exhibit calls the process endosymbiosis in which people go to a solarium to eat and feed for enjoyment. The American meal these days consists of garbled starches where the body goes without more and more nutrients. In the future if the government controlled the food supply according to the job you employ, it would indeed be a very different life.
