Darien's Espresso Neat is an artisan coffee bar that combines modern design with old-fashioned individual brewed drip cups. The coffee is simple, full of flavors only found in nature such as a dark brewed cherry coffee. The "Slow Coffee" menu features seasonal single-origin coffees, and the bar's food comes from local regional producers including Knipschildt Chocolatier, SoNo Bakery and Dough*Girl Baking Company.

This isn’t your typical chain coffee store. While customers can choose to add chocolate, homemade vanilla syrup, or agave to drinks they cannot choose a size. Espresso Neat offers one size per drink meaning cappuccinos come in a standard 8 ounce cup, lattes in 12 ounce cups, and coffee in a 10 ounce cup.

While the no choice in sizes my throw some customers the seasonally coffee sourced from around the worlds are almost all sustainably grown and is something hard to find in most local coffee shops. Founders Rachel Haughey and Lori Kirchen opened the shop in August 2009 after being disappointed by the coffee scene in Connecticut.

Take a trip to Espresso Neat, it’s a short drive from Greenwich, or take metro north from Greenwich to Darien the shop is located practically across the street from the train stop and try out the coffee for yourself. Before you go you may want to check out the website where they keep a list and description of the coffee and teas they are currently serving. Espresso Neat: 20 Grove Street Darien, CT 06820, telephone: 202.202.7215, open Monday to Saturday 7am to 6pm.
